After making our storyboard, we then had to take photos of each frame and upload them onto iMovie. This way we could see a very rough copy of how our opening is going to go. We also started choosing our music which consisted of a soft and gentle tune which we then wanted to abruptly turn into adventurous upbeat music to go with our running scene.

During last lesson, we started focusing on the opening of our film. For a while we were brainstorming and throwing ideas about until we had come up with our main outline. To ensure that our opening was do able and was in fact a good one, we had to present it back to the class to get their opinions and have them give us ideas about what to change, add in etc. Fortunately we were given the green light with only a few alterations to out original idea.
After this, we then had to put our plan to paper and turn it into a storyboard. At this point we had to think about the types of shots we wanted to use, the location and who was going to star in it. We used the opening of The Life Of David Gale for inspiration as the opening went with the idea we had come up with. Having someone run across the field linked with our version of someone running across a field because they were in danger. Knowing our location helped us come up with ideas for the establishing shots such as a close up of strands of grass and using the depth of field technique on leaves on trees.

The Night Of

I like this title sequence because its very mysterious looking. No colour is used apart from just shadows and lighting which gives the clip a sinister feeling along with the types of shots used, such as depth of field and overhead shots. It doesn't give much away about the plot apart from that it is based in a busy city. Its very simple yet effective with the music added to give it that eerie feeling. Due to the way it looks, the music and the mise-en-scene, my first instinct would be to say its in the genre of horror.

Marco Polo

This in my opinion is a very elegant title sequence. I like how the flow of paint then creates a picture which gives you an insight to what the film may be about. While watching it, I find it very relaxing and feel as if that's all you focus on while watching this clip. I also like how the colours used are very neutral which adds to the effect of being minimalistic yet impressive.

Nerve

This is a very upbeat title sequence compared to the last two. I like how they have incorporated aspects of social media that most of us use everyday such as emojis and soundcloud. I like the way they have a persons position in the making of the film, correspond to the back ground. You can tell straight away from this clip that it is a modern film aimed at young viewers who will understand the brands, logos and pictures that are used.

Prelim Task

One of our tasks at this stage was to film a prelim. For this we had to get into groups and produce a short film which would be approximately 20 seconds. It had to include a character opening a door, crossing a room and then exchanging a short amount of dialogue with another student. We had to demonstrate match on action, shot reverse shot and make sure we stuck to the 180 degree rule. As a group, we decided to have our characters script involve conflict which ended up being difficult to film as we found it hard to not laugh at the expressions we were producing while acting. After allocating roles and deciding on who will say what, we then took to a storyboard where we broke down the script into frames and added what angle we would be filming from. To film it, we decided to not go in numerical order of each frame, instead we jumped from scene 3 to 5,6 and 9. The idea behind this was to be able to film many scenes from the same angle all at once to keep fluidity. After filming it all we then then downloaded it onto the Mac and started editing. This process was fairly easy as our film was so short but it was fun to play around with the editing tools and to get an idea of what we'll be doing in the future. One thing that we did find difficult, was cropping each scene so it flowed seamlessly to the next as it would only sometimes be having to cut out 1 second.
